AI Producer & LAW – Finally safe? What’s legal and what you really own
AI can take a lot of work off your hands in the studio: it delivers ideas, accelerates workflows, assists with mastering, generates sounds, and even supports vocals, cover art, or complete songs. But which tools are actually worth using? And what of it can you ultimately use commercially? In this masterclass, we’ll show you how to integrate AI into your day-to-day producer workflow in a meaningful way – practical, application-focused, and without dry legal jargon. You’ll learn which applications are comparatively safe, where copyright and personality rights become relevant, and why not everything that is technically possible ultimately belongs to you.
AI in the studio: assistant or liability?
This masterclass brings clarity to a topic that is currently causing uncertainty for many producers: Where can you use AI relatively safely, and where should you take a closer look at the license terms? When does inspiration turn into a le gal risk? And why is your own creative contribution not only musically import ant, but legally relevant as well? Instead of drowning in legal jargon, you’ll get a practical roadmap for everyday studio work: we’ll look at typical AI applicati ons ranging from mixing and mastering to MIDI, loops, lyrics, and artwork, all the way to complete songs, voice cloning, and soundalikes. You’ll also get a clear trafficlight system, quick answers to the most important producer questions, and an interview with specialist attorney Tho mas Seggewiß, also known as Nerdanwalt.

Test: Waldorf Iridium MK2 – Sampler, FM-Synth, Granular-Machine ...
Is the Iridium MK2 a must-have upgrade for owners of the first version? That depends largely on how much you value expanded sample storage and more sophisticated layered sound structures. For newcomers, however, the MK2 sets a new benchmark in the world of digital desktop synthesizers, refining the already powerful Iridium platform exactly where it matters most – memory capacity, processing power, and flexibility.

Thinking outside the box
Let’s be honest: Which of you Cubase users also read our FL Studio tutorials? And which Bitwig fans regularly check out the Cubase Power Producers?
Of course, we could keep asking these questions, but I think the point is clear: Just as choosing between Windows and macOS has become more of a matter of personal preference these days – after all, both work just fine – the gaps between the worlds of Cubase, Logic, Live, and most other DAWs have also narrowed significantly. If we leave out DAWs like Renoise, Maschine, or MPC for a moment (though all three can just as easily be loaded as plug-ins into any DAW), it’s becoming increasingly difficult to find truly fundamental differences.
But this is anything but a disadvantage and brings us back to the opening questions: Do you read Power Producer exclusively for “your” DAW? No? Good! But if so, you’re missing out on at least four pages per issue filled with creative approaches, helpful tips, and practical tricks that can help you streamline certain production processes, solve problems, or find ideas for new tracks.
So we can only strongly recommend that you think outside the box and take a peek at the other Power Producers as well. Even if ideas can only be reproduced 99% in your DAW, the journey there will inspire you – we can promise you that much. Your music will definitely benefit from that!
